Stylist and Image Consultant, Viviana Rueda, married the love of her life, Michael Hejlesen, in Santa Monica, California. Originally, they were to wed in Viviana’s country of origin, Colombia. The wedding was set for November 28th of last year. She was enjoying planning her traditional Colombian celebration with her father when tragedy soon struck. Shortly after losing her father, Viviana and Michael decided to put a halt to their wedding plans.
Ultimately, they decided to cancel their wedding in Cartagena and opt for a small ceremony and dinner with a handful of their closest friends.
Following Viviana’s loss, some of her friends decided to have a surprise wedding for she and Michael. They had the idea of getting a multitude of vendors together to give to a deserving couple during these trying times. The collaboration began, and I was honored to be a part of it.
I had a two-hour meeting with Viviana and Michael, where we connected almost immediately. It was so hard not to spoil the surprise. Mostly, I just tried to let them tell me what they were looking for in a photographer. We ended up sharing intimate stories and laughing the night away. We became fast friends.
Their celebration was truly special. When they arrived to their surprise reception, they were greeted by approximately 70 guests waiting to share in their joy. Friends and family from Colombia and Denmark that were unable to attend were present via Skype. What a magical affair!
